Frans van Andel, MSc, MPH, PhD

Adam Barak, MCIM

British nationality, Senior Partner of HEAP Research BV. Degrees in Sales and Marketing. Mr Barak has 15 years of international pricing and reimbursement practice in healthcare for both industry and in consultancy with extensive experience in establishing global pricing and reimbursement strategies for pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device and diagnostics companies and healthcare services. Work experience at GSK, Oxford GlycoSciences and several major consultancy firms (a.o UBC). In 2002 Adam established ABPPC Ltd to provide the healthcare industry with specialised support in developing pricing, funding and market access strategies, out of which grew the international network PharmaPrice International (PPi), www.pharmaprice.net which Adam still heads, with offices in 25 countries and which works closely with HEAP Research BV. For 10 years to date, Adam and his companies have provided global coverage supporting some 300 assignments in commercialisation, planning and implementation for drugs, diagnostics, medical devices and healthcare services. Adam has experience with a multitude of therapeutic areas, has authored a number of publications, regularly presents to international audiences on international pricing, funding and market access topics and offers P&R training. Nico Bruyniks, MD, MRCOG, MFFP

Dutch nationality. Senior Partner of HEAP Research BV. Medical doctor with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists), sub-specialisation in Reproductive Health (Member of the Faculty of Family Planning and Reproductive Health). About 22 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical Affairs (Medical Director for Europe), Clinical Development (as Head Global Clinical Development Osteoporosis and Hormone Replacement Therapy and Vice-President Development, both clinical and pre-clinical) and General Management. Worked in large, mid-size and small (biotech) pharma companies in EU, Russian Federation and former Soviet Republics, Japan and the US. Has developed new affiliates for pharmaceutical companies in Eastern Europa as Medical Director for Eastern Europe, Benelux and the Nordics as General Manager. Agnieszka Buksowicz, MSc

Worked for Bayer AG from 1992 to 1996. Nowadays senior manager and consultant for drug registration, food supplements, medical devices, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacovigilance and consultancy in Regulatory Affairs in Poland. Antonie Brouwer, PharmD, MPH

Dutch nationality, Senior Consultant of HEAP Research BV. Degrees in pharmacy (University of Amsterdam) and Public Health (Harvard, Boston), More than 30 years of experience in hospital, wholesale and retail pharmacy. Set up a regional wholesale company in the Netherlands as well as a clinic for the treatment of international patients. Involved in many international projects sponsored by the European Union and Netherlands Government in Eastern Europe and Africa on issues such as GMP production, drug information, registration, wholesaling and retailing and drug recovery systems. Work experience in the public (EC Commission Kiev, German Drug Institute) and private sector (BMS, Solvay) in clinical research and development of pharmaceuticals - all phases of development. Ron de Graaff, LLM

Dutch nationality, Senior Partner of HEAP Research BV. Ron has a degree in law from the Free University Amsterdam and has focussed his professional life on health insurance and health financing issues as well as dental care and medical device and pharmaceutical reimbursement. Ron is a senior expert in issues of DRG financing (or in Dutch DBC) in the Netherlands. Over the years he has advised more than 400 private and public sector health care providers, insurers and manufacturers of pharmaceuticals and medical devices giving advice mainly in the field of strategy and policy structures, related to and resulting form the finance structures of the Dutch healthcare system (over 1,500 projects). Mr de Graaff is also Managing Director of Seijgraaf BV (www.seijgraaf.nl) and the Chairman of the Netherlands Association of Dentists. His past duties involved: Chairman of Umbrella Organization of Medical Technology in the Netherlands (SOMT) and various advisory roles of the Dutch Healthcare Authority and the National Reimbursement Authority. Katrien De Groote, Pharm, PhD.

Belgian nationality. Senior consultant and founder of INNOSENS bvba (www.innosens.be). Katrien holds a PhD. Degree in Pharmacy from the Catholic University of Leuven. During her 14-year career in the pharmaceutical industry she held different positions as Medical Advisor, Health Scientist for pharmaco-economic projects, Health Economics Manager Benelux, Medical Manager and Pricing, Reimbursement and Market Access Manager for the Benelux/Alpine (Austria/Switzerland) region. In these positions she was responsible for the initiation and conduct of clinical trials in Belgium (phase III to phase IV/phase V studies), pharmacovigilance, training of sales representatives, medical information, submitting pricing and reimbursement dossiers for drugs and medical devices, developing health economic dossiers and giving strategic support to the Marketing and Sales Department.
During this 14-year period, she built up an in-depth knowledge of pricing and reimbursement environment and market access opportunities within the European Union. She built up a strong network with Key Opinion Leaders in several diseases areas, Health Authorities and Payers within the Benelux.

Bas Janssen MSc, PhD

Dutch nationality, Senior Consultant HEAP Research BV in phamacoeconomic modelling, psychometric and quality of life studies. Master degrees in clinical psychology and philosophy from the University of Amsterdam. Has completed a PhD on the methodology of Quality Adjusted Life years. Over 8 years of research experience in Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs), utility and health-related quality of life measurement, psychometrics and health economics. Has been an active member of the EuroQol Group since 2005 and is currently involved in several EuroQol funded projects as principal researcher. Has been principal investigator in the development of the EQ-5D-5L, and has extensive experience in the valuation of health outcomes, the development of condition specific preference based measures and mapping studies. Has been working as a consultant and senior researcher since 2008. Bas also works as a part time professional musician. Fluent in Dutch and English, conversant in German.

Harm Luth, RN, MA

Dutch nationality, Senior Consultant of HEAP Research BV. Certified trainer and expert in training groups. Mr. Luth is NLP-master and systemic therapist, and has been (therapeutically) working with organizations and individuals more than 15 years. Has more than 25 years of experience as a manager in psychiatric healthcare (community psychiatry). Nowadays he is involved in several healthcare-projects in Romania and Turkey. He worked as a therapist-trainer for Marezate-Baarn, and had a private practice for individual psychotherapy. Worked for a major psychiatric institution in the Netherlands. He specialized in business administration and informatics, and developed in 1990 a method for effective nursing in chronic psychiatry. Mayya Makhmudova, MD, PhD

Uzbek nationality. Senior Consultant of HEAP Research BV in quality management systems in health care in general and in the blood sector in particular. Maya has more than 15 years of experience in developing QA management systems in primary and secondary care in health systems of many different countries such as Tadjikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. From 2005 to 2011 she served as Blood Safety Programme Manager of the Women and Child Health Development Project in Uzbekistan sponsored by the Asian Development Bank. During this period she directed blood service reform, developed and taught QA management systems in MCH focussing on peri-natal and post-natal services in general and blood procurement in particular. Dr Makhmudova is an internationally recognised expert in QA systems and transfusion medicine and serves as expert to WHO, GF, ADB and the World Bank. Cees Smit Sibinga, MD, PhD, FRCP Edin, FRCPath

Dutch nationality. Senior Partner HEAP Research BV and senior expert in reform of the blood procurement system. Degrees in medicine, clinical haematology (University of Groningen) and transfusion medicine (Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and Royal College of Pathologists, London, UK). PhD in Medicine (University of Groningen). More than 30 years of experience in blood safety projects involving organizational, legislative and quality management aspects of reforms of blood supply systems in Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia. Former Medical Director of the Regional Blood Bank Groningen (northern part of the Netherlands. Expert (professor at the University of Groningen) in international development of transfusion medicine, involving all aspects of the management and operations of blood supply and clinical use systems at national level. Jaap Wientjes

Dutch nationality, Senior Partner of HEAP Research BV in project funding sourcing and banking. Jaap Wientjes is a professional on finance of projects in developing countries and emerging markets. He is a specialist in capacity building in the private sector and has extensive knowledge of international trade, export and investing in less developed countries. He is an expert on donor funding and an experienced banker in financing export transactions. Has held senior management functions such as Director of the Department of Investment Promotion (ORET and Capacity building programmes; fund manager) at FMO bank, Director of Export Finance at ING Barings Bank and Senior Account manager at NCM (now Atradius). In addition to his role with HEAP Research BV, Jaap is owner of the advisory company Finance for Projects (www.financeforprojects.nl). Among his clients are/have been many major capital goods and services industry companies in the Netherlands, World Bank, IFC, MIGA, PUM and government institutions of developing countries (mainly in Africa and central and Eastern Europe, Vietnam, China, approximately 30 countries) as well as the Minister of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands.
